The only car that does 100 mph while standing still

Photo taken during the 60's, Sollentuna.

Picture published 2011-01-21, Ronny Eriksson.

- Ford Fairlane Victora, with a very non sturdy front. It had holes everywhere so to patch it up we went scavenging in the woods. Ended up finding an old wreck that we used pieces from and the School Boy's car had never looked better. There is molding on the outside ceiling which is pretty uncommon; this is only done on the Krom Victoria. The commercial promised “The only car that does 100 mph while standing still”.

Lotus 22

- Hasse Skoglund and his brother by a Lotus 22, a junior that came here in 1962. This specific car has an interesting story. It was shipped here for Gunnar “Persbergarn” Carlsson, who won his first SM (Swedish championship) in 1963. After that the car was sold to Sven Matsson, who ALSO won the Swedish championships with in in 1964. Later on it was rebuilt as an formel Ford. In the picture the car is on a trailer outside our garage, funny fact is that one wasn't able to drive into the garage but instead had to back in. My brother used to work on these cars, he knew a great deal about them and they always turned out well. Source: Tomas Karlsson.

A new Buick Riviera

Photo taken in the 60's, Älgvägen, Sollentuna.

- A new Buick Riviera with strongest motor and temporary license plates, on Älgvägen i Sollentuna. Every once in a while we were allowed to borrow the car and the burnouts were amazing! The owner was Bernt Brodin who was the leader of Brodin Motor and Motor material. The car stayed within the family for a long time. In the picture Capone is sitting on the passenger seat, and Karsten Brodin is probably the one driving. In the back ground one can make out my Ford 55.

Student Car

- A ridiculously fast Chevrolet Monza Spider that could push up to 180mph. The car was given to the son in the house (Karsten Brodin) upon graduation. Of course one had to scratch and burn tires all the time and the clutches always broke. Karsten burnt out an uncountable number of those over the years.

- The Monza was traded out for a Volvo P1800, then later on for a Beetle. He was slowly downgrading.

Kalmarsandsbadet

Photo taken at the end of the 60's at Kalmarsandsbadet, Bålsta.

Picture published 2011-01-21, Ronny Eriksson.

- Luntan's old Bullford, spotty and ugly, but for the time era – just right. Photo taken at Kalmarsandsbadet where we often went. Venturing a guess I'd say that the person driving would most probably be Luntan and in the passenger seat School Boy. Kalmarsandsbadet was a really nice place at the time with a large beach and a small coffee place. Most probably my Ford was there somewhere too.

Baby is back

- Could it be a Cheva 55, Pontiac, or a Buick that the woman is sitting on? Hard to say..

A two doors Ford 55

Photo taken at the beginning of the 60's, Sollentuna.

Picture published 2011-01-21, Ronny Eriksson.

- My friend who smashed his Krom Victoria ended up buying this car instead. After he bought it we asked him what kind of car he bought? He turned around with a proud smile, - I got a a Ford 56, a two doors! Ahhha! But that’s an Angelia!? – yeah, a two door one. It turned out being a great car, worked all the time. But it was always cold in the car so we solved that problem by some old fashion scavenging. In the forest we found an old Ford 1955/56 which we took the heating element from. After making a huge whole in the torpedo wall the heating element was put into the car where it took up most of the motor area. And it worked! Must have been over 200F in there! At the time there were a lot of old cars just left in the woods. There were numerous times that we went out for rear axles.

- Barbro Johansson and Karina Gibson by my Ford 55. The father of Karin was some high-fly district man in Sollentuna. Cute girls. This picture must have been taken by Tureberg, on the backroad to Häggvik, can't remember the name of the road though.

The Toaster

- Hasse Skogis and Nickan. Funny thing is that all of the cars had the “toaster” gramophone. That was the first thing one installed in the car. Was absolutely crucial, that is until radio “Nord” came.

Hasse's next A 55

- Nice Austin A 55, made for driving on the right side. In the picture dad Skoglund was sitting in a MGA camshaft with double carburator. The picture was taken in their garden in Helenelund where they lived at the time. In the background the family’s guest house.

- She is drinking beer outside “Moms” Coffee house in Näsby Park, from the surroundings it looks like it could be in Hummelsta but we never got that far...
